This pretty village is situated approximately 8 miles north of Dorchester. It is nestled at the end of a valley where the delightful Sydling Water flows south from Up Sydling, across the ford, through the village and out across the water meadows . The surrounding hills offer footpaths with some spectacular views.
Sydling has a church which dates from the 15th century, a cosy pub/restaurant, a village green, childrens’ playground, a newly refurbished village hall, a dairy farm and watercress farm. It comprises a mixture of architectural styles including thatched cottages and some grand houses. Â
Throughout the year there are numerous events that bring the villagers together and the 400 or so inhabitants enjoy a thriving community spirit with a great atmosphere of friendliness and inclusivity.
